As a wedding coordinator I have had the pleasure of meeting and working with so many wonderful people. I met Tiffany almost 2 years ago; she booked us to coordinate her wedding Oct 2010. After much planning we received the call…. Tiffany told me the wedding had been called off. Tiffany was crying and upset I told her “Tiffany it doesn’t feel like it now, but your Prince Charming will come along, I promise” I stayed in touch with Tiffany over the next couple of years; I was so impressed with how she held her head high through the whole thing.
I am thrilled as I write this Blog…Tiffany is engaged! And we are going to be her Fairy Godmother. She told me all about Dustin, how they met, their friendship formed quickly, their love of sports, family and the beach and most of all each other. I am so happy for Tiffany and Dustin! I have to admit I was like a big sister when I first met Dustin, protective and cautious. Within a few minutes I could completely tell why Tiffany fell in love with Dustin, he is warm, kind and adores her. I can’t wait until May of 2013 when I will indeed get to see Tiffany walk down the aisle towards her “Prince Charming” I am sure there will be very few dry eyes in the crowd, I can guarantee my eyes won’t be dry! So you see dreams do come true

My own wedding anniversary was a few months back and my hubby totally surprised me with a beautiful diamond band to match my wedding ring. I love the way the two look together. However this got me thinking……
Which Ring Goes On First??
The wedding band goes on first. I have heard the argument that same say you received the engagement first, but, the band is supposed to be closest to your heart. The engagement ring is with the intent to marry, the band means, you’re married.
At the wedding, the groom will slide the wedding band on the bride’s finger, and there can be a dilemma as to what to do with the engagement ring. Some women simply leave the engagement rings on their fingers and switch ring placement later. Others wear their engagement rings on their right hand until after the ceremony.
And why are the Wedding Rings put on the 4th Finger of the Left Hand? Myth states that the Wedding Ring Finger was the Finger used, because that was the Finger that had a vein in it, that ran directly to the Heart! WOW! You see, it’s all about Love and Romance and…..Gold and Diamonds and Veins! So how do you wear your wedding ring?

Kelsey asked me if we could meet to discuss doing weddings at the Fox, of course I emailed back promptly YES! We spent the next 8 months designing a complete package, meeting with all of the approved and preferred vendors, mapping out just how a wedding would take place, setting up a wedding shoot with the Wolverton’s and finally putting together our Wedding Packages. We were very pleased when several of the vendors we met with told us that previous management tried to do weddings at the Fox before however the way we designed the packages and how we presented the idea was the best they had ever seen. Kelsey and I met one more time, we talked about what would be the best way to market “Weddings at the Fox” I mentioned it would be best to market it to the Vendors, Kelsey agreed. With that I began talking to Ann McCright from Beyond the Red Carpet (BRC). We felt BRC was exactly the type of event that would launch “Weddings at the Fox” perfectly. BRC is an sophisticated, Invitation-Only social business network group, featuring Central California’s most successful business owners, professionals and entrepreneurs.
Well this is our 9th month and Kelsey and I both feel like this is our BABY we are very excited to launch “Weddings at the Fox” in conjunction with the BRC mixer, the mixer will take place at the Fox this Tuesday night from 6:00 to 8:30, please RSVP to www.beyondtheredcarpet.com. Well yesterday was Yessi’s last day in Bakersfield.
As she pulled away in her sweet red car I had a sense of sadness and happiness.
Look out Ventura County here comes Fairy Godmother Yessi!
She already has two vendor appointments, met with a new vendor today, been refereed a new bride and today was her first full day home! Way to go Yessi!

“One Shoe Can Change Your Life” -Cinderella

So you’ve got the dress, the veil, maybe even the jewelry…but do you have your shoes?? You’re going to want to think about this a little bit.

What’s your shoe style? Glitzy and flashy, cute and fun, sweet and sexy? Your shoes are just another way to show off your personality. Picking a wedding shoe can be difficult (but isn’t the search fun?!).

Aside from the style, think about the type of shoe you want. When you’re trying on shoe after shoe, think about certain details, for instance, heel height. Some of us like those super high heels…but is that practical on your wedding day? Remember, you’ll be walking down the aisle with 200 people staring at you.

Make sure you’re comfortable and confident walking in the heel height you decide on. Another tip about heel height (I learned this the hard way) : If you’re thinking about wearing a higher heel, let the bridal shop know when they’re taking measurements for your dress! You want to make sure you’re dress is long enough.

No matter what shoe you decide on, make sure they’re comfortable, easy to walk in, easy to dance in, etc. When you’re trying them on, give them a test walk around the shoe store! Take your mom/maid of honor/little brother with you and make sure you can dance in those shoes!

Vendors, Vendors, Vendors!

Think of all the people you’ll need with you on your wedding day. The coordinator, photographer, caterer, florist. And there are so many of each to choose from! So how do you know which vendors to decide on? Here are a few things to keep in mind when meeting with potential vendors.
Note the level of professionalism they use in conversation and paperwork. Are they customer-oriented? Are they enthusiastic about your wedding? Do they return phone calls and emails quickly? Look at their experience or training and check out some of their past work. Impressed?

Before you sign contracts, READ THEM THOROUGHLY! Make sure the hours of service or product details, payment policies, and cancellation policies are listed in writing as you discussed them.

Do your homework! Check out sites like www.yelp.com, www.eventective.com, and www.theknot.com for reviews on your local vendors. See what other brides write about their experiences with vendors you’re considering.
And with every vendor you hire, don’t forget to communicate the details!
Follow up often.

Vendors love what they do and care about each and every couple they speak to. If a vendor has set aside time to meet with you, don’t stand them up! If you are going to be late or can’t make the appointment just give them a call. If you decide to book with someone else, be sure to let them know with a quick call or simple email. There may be other brides looking to book them on the date they have saved for you. Be honest with them let them know why you didn’t book with them. They appreciate your honesty and your follow through!

Your wedding day is a day for the whole family to get together and celebrate. And when we say the whole family, we mean the whole family!!

If you’re a pet owner, you know that you’re favorite, four-legged friend is also a part of the family.
Sure there are ways to include them on your big day. Order them their own flowers for their collar. You could have your four legged friend down the aisle as your ring bearer. Your Lab is not trained? Have someone escort him/her down the aisle. Have an easy exit and have one of your ushers ready to escort them out if your Poodle starts barking or anything else too disruptive. Or maybe you just want the company of your favorite Terrier at the reception? Host the occasion outdoors and add one more to your guest list!

This is the part of Wizard of Oz where Dorothy is scared, confused, and worried about what is ahead of her. The same can be true when planning your own wedding. You may start looking to find someone to handle the stress for you, but it can be confusing when looking at all the different service titles. Let’s see if I can help clear up some of that confusion.

Venue Coordinator: When you book your ceremony/reception venue, the site may include what’s known as a Venue Coordinator. We often hear, “Oh the Venue Coordinator will take care of everything”. Just remember that the Venue Coordinator takes care of mostly venue related items not necessarily you! They take care of the room, the staff, the food, the tables etc. Venue Coordinators will not be with you if there is an offsite ceremony. They will not be with you during the planning process of your wedding. They will not be with you when you have an issue with an uncooperative bridesmaid or a pushy family member or when you need help with your train or changing your shoes etc. The Venue Coordinator is a great help at the venue, but they normally do not get involved in all of the pre-planning and the details of your wedding day. Charge is usually included in the cost of the venue.

Wedding Planner/Designer: The Wedding Planner is there to help plan the overall style and design of the wedding, like the flowers, lighting and linens to ensure that the theme of the wedding is reflected in all aspects of the wedding. They go with you on all appointments to assist picking your photographer, your D.J., your venue, etc. They manage the money and ensure that you stay on budget. Charge is usually 10%-15% of total budget.

Wedding Coordinator/Day-of Coordinator: A Wedding Coordinator is a mediator, an orchestrator, a consultant, a sounding board, a friend, and an organizer all rolled into one. Wedding Coordinators plan and work out every aspect of your wedding. They are there to make sure your day is perfect. They create a detailed time-line for your wedding day and manage and work with your vendors. They take care of everything you need in order to ensure your day will be fabulous. Charge is usually $800-$1500 for the entire day and all pre-planning appointments.
